Sunday Mysore Class
We’re down to one class per week now that we don’t have a car. A gracious and generous student at the studio picks us up and drives us at 8am on Sunday. Thanks, Stewart.
Class was good. I needed a good stretch, since it had been a whole week since my last yoga. I couldn’t help but think that it’s more enjoyable when you have a lot of tension to work out. Stretching becomes so relaxing. Instead, if you’re pretty loose from your last practice, it’s really difficult to make any gains. When you practice often, you have to look at the long term.
My jumpbacks and jumpthroughs have not improved much recently. I even drew a little blood on my foot from scraping my mat so much. And I have to readjust my mat each time, since it folds up. It’s definitely not as fun and it slows me down. But how to develop those muscles?
I’ve set a few other goals for yoga. These are a mix of short term and long term goals.
- Handstand for 5 minutes (I have to learn handstand first)
- Bujapidhasana with forehead on floor
- Jumpbacks without scraping floor
- Jumpthroughs without scraping floor
- Cross-legged lift without feet dragging
- Full lotus without knee pain
Yes, my knee is still bothering me. It’s going to take a long time to strengthen. It’s still much weaker than my hip, so it gives first. And that’s bad. Your knees are supposed to support you tightly. I just have to be very careful with it.
