First Sweaty Class of the Year

Today was warm when we woke up to go to yoga. Just a light sweater is sufficient. Hence the sweaty yoga class today.
I was a bit stiff, as is usual on Sunday morning. But I also didn’t workout yesterday. My current hypothesis is that working out the day before keeps me limber. In fact, the last time I worked out was Thursday night’s yoga class.
My nose was moderately stopped today. Yoga always clears it. Deep breathing and warmth, I guess. But in the postures where my head was upside down (which is a lot of them), I had a lot of trouble breathing. Shifting mucus, I suppose. I must have allergies, because I’ve had a runny nose for weeks now.
Jala neti works for a few minutes. Then it starts to run again. I’m sure it will get better.
I’m looking forward to the At-Home Retreat on March 1st. Mark your calendars. And subscribe to this blog to read about my experience.
I think today I got to a new stage of uddiyana bandha during my poses. It feels less like tensing my abs and more like pulling in my stomach. It’s just that much harder now. I am still amazed that I am finding new muscles to help pull me into the various positions. Have I really gone all of my life without control of those muscles?
Jumpthroughs and jumpbacks are incrementally improving. I still get tired and can’t balance myself. But the first several are pretty good. There’s plenty more progress to come.
I’ve got scrapes on the top of my feet from dragging my feet on my jumpthroughs and jumpbacks. You can see my right foot in the photo. More motivation to pull my knees in higher.
See you next time.
