Quick workout
I just finished a quick workout. I want to log it on my blog.
I started with pullups. I did a pyramid set ending at 4 (16 reps total).
Then I did a set of hanging leg raises . Pyramid set of 4 (16 reps total). Leg raises help me with my bandha strength for jumpbacks and jumpthroughs.
Next came pushups. Pyramid set of 10 (100 reps total). Pushups are a classic for me. Sometimes I do them with feet elevated. But not today.
I felt I needed a little more full-body work. I’m also working long-term on being able to lift up from upward bow pose. So I did a few wall walkers (five to be exact). I’ll work these up to about 20 or so.
Then I felt like I wasn’t really doing anything new and different. So I jumped into bhujapidasana. I thought I wouldn’t be able to manage since I had just done 100 pushups. But it was a good, clean pose. I guess I had warmed myself up.
I try to do all of the exercises in explosive movements. I’m not naturally a fast person, so this is something I think I can improve on. It also lets me build up lactic acid.
I really like the way I feel after one of these workouts. I’m not hungry. I’m ready for anything. Sometimes I feel hungry after sitting all day. But I think that’s the hunger of low blood sugar due to an inactive metabolism. Once you get active, your metabolism kicks back in and you don’t feel so hungry anymore. But that’s a post for another day.

Nice–I’ve been doing similar workouts this year, focusing primarily on bodyweight calisthenics. Too bad we’re not in the same town or we could be workout buddies!

That is too bad. It would help me be a bit more regular and intense about it.
Though to be workout buddies, I’d have to find something to wear. I usually workout in my underwear!
