You’re probably less sane than you think – and what to do about it
I was meditating the other day. Afterward, I thought about how meditation makes you smarter. It’s a complex question. And I’m no meditation expert. But here is one possible thing that happens to increase your brainpower: meditation cleanses your senses.
By learning to focus your mind, you learn to distinguish between what is entering in through your senses and what is your imagination (thoughts flowing through your mind). The thoughts that mainly occupy your mind have very little to do with what you are looking at, and won’t help you figure out what’s going on.
In short, you are training yourself to increase signal and decrease noise.
